Durham Boat Company, Inc. was formed in 1982 to supply high performance, high quality rowing and sculling equipment and related sculling instruction for easy entry into the sport of rowing. Our convenient location on the water allows a customer to try products before buying and the DBC Sculling School provides world-class instruction.

From the beginning, our philosophy has been to assist the consumer in making an informed decision as to what level to enter the sport and as to what type of equipment to buy. We try to explain the features of various types of equipment available and to answer all questions such as: How to rig a boat; what length oar and blade shape should be used; what type of training program to employ; how to best utilize the training devices available; etc. From beginners to elite rowers, the Durham Boat Company staff can offer valuable advice and instruction.

We have always been keenly interested in providing state-of-the-art rowing equipment to the athletes in our club, while gaining valuable feedback from the coaches and club members on equipment performance and tested in the harshest of environments (i.e., salt water).

For the past 23 years we have been building a core competency in the area of carbon prepreg manufacturing. Durham Boat Company has made its mark, as the manufacturer of the premium Dreher oars and sculls. The emphasis has always been on quality and performance coupled with innovative designs and design features.

We followed that success with Dreher carbon rigging components (i.e., carbon riggers, foot stretchers, seats and fins). Durham Boat Company, Inc. is currently a key OEM supplier of carbon components to racing shell manufacturers worldwide.

Still Durham Boat Company, Inc. continues to provide the highest quality boats and accessories from around the world. Durham Boat Company also is the North American representative of BBG Bootsbau Berlin and sells other brands or shells and recreational boats as well.

Dreher Indoor Rowing Facilities are modular in design and can be customized to meet the specifications and desires of any customer. Presently we are the leading provider of rowing tanks in the US and the World. Our recently enhanced human powered tank design, offers the coaches a wider range of stroke rates from the normal steady range (utilization U2/U1) to transportation (T) ratings in the mid thirty strokes per minute range.
