The Ultra Stiff Carbon Tubular Riggers are equipped with a carbon "cup shaped" oarlock holder that directs all the force during the drive straight down the centerline of the carbon rigger back support of the two stay rigger system. There is no twist of the oarlock during the drive.
Thus, the propelling forces, especially from the "catch" to the "stroke perpendicular", are translated through this concentric design to maximize boat speed and to minimize force dissipation through rigger flexing.
Availability: Custom designed to fit most current models of rowing shells. Presently, you see Dreher riggers on many high end Resolute 8+ (all three sizes) and 4+ with nearly all singles being equipped with top mounted Dreher Riggers. BBG top end Olympia and Olympia X Shells sold in Europe have either the side or top mounted Dreher riggers. All BBGs Olympias sold in NA are outfitted with the Dreher Riggers.
In 2005 Dreher Riggers were used on the Women's 8+ that won the gold at Jr. Worlds. In 2003-2004 Dreher Carbon riggers were used on the BBG Olympia X Single by the sculler from Germany who won a bronze medal in the 2003 World Championships and also by the top US Sculler that year. In 2004 the German won the World Cup in Lucerne World Cup and the Gold Medal at World Rowing Championships using the BBG Olympia X with Dreher rigging. There were also several crews using Dreher rigging at the Olympics on BBGs.
Design Enhancements in the Last Several Years: Use of high modulus carbon to improve rigger stiffness. Rigger design improvements and new features improve the ease of adjustment and increases the strength of key parts of the rigging system. A new pitch meter is available to take the mystery out of rigging.
New in 2006-2007 are the Dreher carbon cantilever side mounted wing rigger was: These riggers are manufactured for use on Resolute 4+s, 4xs and 8+s to date. These rigger may used on other manufacturer's side mounted boats as well. The rigger has a aerodynamic wing side stay and has a back stay with a C-Cup. The advantages of this rigger are that it is very stiff in both direction, can be put on either side of the boat, has a wide range of height and spread adjustment and is easy to adjust. The 2nd place women's eight at 2007 NCAA's in the VI race had these riggers. These riggers that are at about twice as stiff as a popular brand of Aluminum riggers currently in use.
We also offer a gull wing rigger for our recreational shells and racing shells that also can ultilize the top mounted carbon tubular rigger design. This stern mounted wing allows better access from high docks of in case of "flipping".
